What is data encryption? | Aquro Help Center

Aquro Cloud services includes a high level data encryption for synchronized data. The encryption is based on a number of different technologies that make it possible to keep the data fully encrypted even when shared between different users.

However as of today, only one level of encryption is included in the Aquro Platform and this encryption is at the highest level based on the user password of an app user.

While this has several steep positives, it also introduces some drawbacks. The biggest positive is that the data is very securely encrypted (as long as the user have a good password) and no one is able to decrypt the data.

On the other hand the biggest drawback is that if the user forgets his password he will not be able to recover his data - as it is encrypted by the password.

Please keep this in mind before you activates data encryption.

In an upcoming update to the Aquro platform we will release different levels of encryption that might be considered a little bit more insecure, but on the other hand may be better in some cases as password reset and data restore will be possible.

To activate encryption of a synchronized data object follow these steps:

  1. Load the page that owns the data collection
  2. Goto the DATA tab
  3. Locate the row with the data collection and click on that row
  4. In the PROPERTIES pane locate and click on the CONFIGURE button found on the sync property.
  5. Click on the ENCRYPTION tab
  6. Read the information and check the checkbox if you like to encrypt the data
  7. Click on SAVE to save the setting
